Internet Policy and Acceptable Use Agreement
Holy Family School
Grades K - 6
Dear Parent or Guardian,
The Internet has emerged as a powerful educational tool, providing worldwide access to museums, libraries, news, events, and other useful resources. Holy Family School offers access to computers, chromebooks and iPads for these educational purposes. Because there have been concerns about children accessing offensive material, as well as crime, abuse, or harassment occurring over the Internet, all students and parents must consent to the “Internet Policy and Acceptable Use” agreement with the school prior to using the computers, chromebooks or iPads. Additionally, all users are responsible for appropriate and acceptable behavior. Failure to comply with this “Acceptable Use Policy” may constitute disciplinary action or appropriate legal action.
Holy Family School recognizes that electronic information research skills are fundamental to preparation of citizens and future employees. Therefore, with a series of lessons from commonsense.org, netsmartz.org, and other sources, students will be taught computer care, Internet safety, manners, recognizing advertisements, and how to do research on the Internet. For safety reasons, Holy Family School will restrict the use of last names when publishing any pictures, artwork or video productions of the students on our website and Facebook page.
Precautions have been made to ensure acceptable use including:

It is presumed that users will comply with this policy and will honor the agreements they have signed. Some uses of the school Internet are not permitted; these include, but are not limited to using the network for any illegal activity, degrading or disrupting equipment, and by invading the privacy of other individuals.
